Guild members are taking the initiative to organize their own presentations (group and individual), yet want them listed as part of our guild totals. So many "thank yous" go out to the piecers, quilters, binders, requesters, presenters, our treasurer, and people who have donated fabric and money. Our ninth year of Quilts of Valor has been our biggest yet!! We have surpassed awarding 500 quilts as a guild (which included 124 quilts in 2021)!! To request more information about how to nominate a family member or friend to receive a Quilt of Valor, please click on the email icon at the bottom of this page. The guild has now awarded over 350 Quilts of Valor since that November 2012 meeting! Groups also work together at monthly sew-ins at an area quilt shop. Individuals can enjoy their favorite part of quilting (piecing, quilting, or binding) or make complete quilts. This block drive is now an annual favorite, and our members make and donate between 200–400 blocks each year. Over 100 12” finished quilt blocks were donated that year and made into our first Quilts of Valor. The Miami Valley Quilters' Guild became active with QOVF beginning in November 2012, with a “Make A Star for a Veteran” block drive. This foundation ( has grown over the years and has awarded more than 250,000 quilts to veterans and active military who have given so much to our country. It was during that time her son was deployed that she conceived the idea of comforting veterans with quilts. With a son deployed in Iraq - a gunner sitting atop a Humvee – she felt ten seconds away from panic 24 hours a day, every day.
